What do you enjoy most about working in manufacturing? I enjoy working with people. We’re one big team here. It’s a lot of fun, and I like to see the satisfaction and effort realized when you see the product roll out the door.

What attracted you to a career in manufacturing? I came into it in kind of a non-traditional way. I earned an electrical engineering degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but I knew I was a terrible engineer because they were training people to work in labs. I wanted to do something with people. I was hired into the Caterpillar Leadership and Technical Development program, put on PPE (person protection equipment), and after I went out on the shop floor for the first time, I haven’t looked back.

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about creating their future in manufacturing? You can’t take it at face value. You have to understand it takes different people
