Electrical Journeyman License or clear pathway to Journeyman license (training on running conduits/pathways for cabling)

Familiarity with networking technologies (switches, routers, fiber, copper, patch panels)

Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to end-users with varying levels of experience and knowledge.

Willingness and enthusiasm to research issues and to collaborate across functional teams and with vendors to see problems through to resolution.
Job Description:

The Network Raceway Technician II position is a physical and technical role responsible for installation, upkeep and operation of the ISU network pathway systems. This position is responsible for installing, testing/troubleshooting, and removing structured cabling pathways and physical network equipment, and other related network responsibilities. Other duties include but are not limited to installation of network-related electrical circuits, and updating incident, service, and change management tickets. The ability to work a flexible off-hours schedule for planned and unplanned maintenance is required.

A Network Raceway Technician II is detail oriented, self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and can troubleshoot while learning new skills, tools, and technologies. They also possess strong time management, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems.

A Network Raceway Technician II is a career-level position, demonstrating proficiency and knowledge of structured cabling systems, working under general supervision and leading part time and junior full time staff work, and following mostly established business processes.

Example of Duties
• Provides support for routine network raceway components, including network switches and routers.
• Tests, troubleshoots, and configures existing raceway systems.

• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature
• Applies thorough knowledge to respond to inquiries and requests
• Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation
• Provides guidance to students
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
