Primary Purpose and Function:
The Sales Engineer at Okuma America Corporation will support a regional sales team by providing technical or sales expertise and helping in the coverage and managing of the territory. An integral part of the sales team, this individual must possess a strong self-starter mentality and a passion for applying Okuma machine tools. Attention to detail and the ability work in hand with distributors to communicate Okuma capabilities is critical.

Implement direction given by Regional Sales Manager.
Work closely with other Okuma departments in regards to maximizing sales and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Phone and Email support of Territory Sales staff.
Perform training for distributor sales on Okuma systems and/or products.
Sales support of events
Promote, coordinate and oversee sales blitzes developing best practices
Analyze market data to evaluate territory performance and recommend plans for market share improvement where needed
Traveling inside Territory to build relationships, support distributor sales efforts and meet end-users to understand their needs, expectations, etc.


4-year Degree in Manufacturing or related field
4 years in a technical role (engineering or manufacturing) or 4 years in a technical sales role
Strong technical aptitude and some understanding of the manufacturing industry
Knowledge of creating specification for machine tool quote.
Understanding of machine tool terminology for Lathes, Mills, and CNC controls.
Good communication skills and comfortable presenting materials to a group.
Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability and willingness to travel in territory 50% -70% during the year
