Nature & Scope:

The person is responsible for operating equipment associated with WWT; sampling, viewing, recording, and interpreting data; performing math calculations; and placing items like chemicals and equipment in their proper locations. The person reports to the plant’s Environmental Services Coordinator / Technician. WWT Operators work and communicate with primary internal and external contacts such as Operators, Technicians, Team Leads, Engineers, Quality, Purchasing and Vendors. A person must be able to perform the essential duties accurately and in an organized and timely manner, be customer-focused, have a positive attitude, and be willing to work overtime. The person must desire to improve the business processes they work in.

Essential Duties / Tasks (included but not limited to):

  • Handle chemicals in liquid, dry and gas forms.
  • Operate WWT equipment.
  • Sample / collect, view, record and interpret / analyze data to operate equipment.
  • Perform math calculations to determine proper operating conditions.
  • Place items like chemicals and equipment in their proper locations
  • Pick-up and deliver chemicals in the plant.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Observe equipment and systems to detect abnormal operating conditions.
  • Clean and maintain an orderly work environment by adhering to visual workplace standards.
  • Continually improve WWT processes.
  • Collect quarterly air monitoring samples.
  • Perform housekeeping duties consistent with 5S and visual workplace standards.
  • Perform ERGO stretches.
  • Work safely while performing job duties.
  • Complete hazard observations and observe unsafe conditions and report both using Delta Faucet’s standard procedures.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • HS degree or HS equivalency diploma is recommended.
  • PIV license
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs several times a shift.
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, often on short notice.
  • Complete a brief questionnaire about the position.
  • Willingness to work toward State of Indiana WWT certification.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Acceptable disciplinary performance – Employees who have received a written warning (first or second) are not eligible for promotions or transfers for a minimum of six months after receiving that warning.
  • Acceptable attendance performance - Employees who have six or more points are not eligible for promotions or transfers.
  • A human performance evaluation or HPE is an evaluation of a person’s physical

ability to do a job. HPE may require the applicant or person to determine if they are physically able to perform different tasks related to skills that are critical for success on the job, such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.

Qualifications:

Language Skills

The individual should have the ability to read and interpret documents like safety rules, Delta specifications, Standard Work Instructions, job instruction documents, and aspects of Delta’s MOS (Masco Operating System), SFM (Shop Floor Management) system, QMS (Quality Management System) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.

Mathematical Skills

The individual must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

The individual must have the ability to apply reason and understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. The person must be able to understand basic reports and daily business requirements.
