Reporting to the Demand Planning Manager, the materials planner is responsible for managing inventory and ordering packaging materials, chemicals, and ingredients. Provides support to Operations for material requirements.  Support Sales and Marketing to execute packaging changes and new product launches.

Official Worksite 

This is an onsite position with a designated official worksite at the corporate office in Tracy, CA.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and order packaging materials, chemicals and ingredients for the processing and manufacture of finished product.
  • Ensure inventory and planning reports are updated and maintained to drive inventory requirements. 
  • Analyze demand for packaging materials to determine optimum inventory quantities. Support management with risk assessment and mitigation activities.
  • Issue Purchase Orders for materials, following up to ensure on time delivery.
  • Maintain SQF and regulatory documentation for all required materials, ingredients and chemicals.
  • Support RFP process to identify and support cost savings projects and supplier development.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, including active participation in the prompt identification and communication of safety hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 Minimum Qualifications 

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel (Advanced Excel skills preferred).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to problem solve and proactively identify process improvement solutions.
  • Ability to extract data and develop, read, and interpret spreadsheets and information/data from ERP systems. 
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to inquiries or complaints.
  • Proficient in email, record keeping, database analysis, graphics, etc.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, with a concentration in warehousing or operations management, or equivalent combination of education and management experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years broad-based inventory planning and control experience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and lead organizational change across many departments.
