Software Systems Engineer

Design, development, testing and Implementation of real-time Embedded, microprocessor control systems for automotive applications. To determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.  Document and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.  Prepares and installs solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.  Improves operations by conducting systems analysis, recommending changes in policies and procedures. Obtains and licenses software by obtaining required information from vendors; recommending purchases; testing and approving products.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the research and design, development, and test operating systems-level software, testing, and implementation of real-time, embedded electronic controls systems, primarily for automotive applications. Duties include gathering and interpreting technical systems specifications from both internal and external clients; designing innovative electronic control systems, utilizing cutting-edge microprocessors, device drivers, and peripherals, data acquisition and communications hardware, and related real-time systems software using C/C++, Python, CAPL, and CANoe.  Also use of microcontrollers for testing and debugging (hardware and software systems) using in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers, numerical analysis, and related computer engineering techniques, including automotive communication protocols like CAN and Class-II.

  • Software test plan development and validation.
  • Vehicle system testing and diagnostics.
  • Proficiency using emulators and oscilloscopes.
  • Vector CAPL programming and CANoe panel development.
  • Set operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements.
  • Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.


Required Skills/Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor – Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);

Experience: Three (3) years in the position above, or as a Software Validation Engineer, or in a related occupation
