Position Summary 

 

Manage and oversee daily operations of accounting team, including preparing and/or reviewing ledger entries and reconciliations; ensure timely reporting and closing of financial records; maintain accuracy and integrity of financial statements; implement and enforce strong controls and auditable processes; promote discipline of accounting processes and compliance with GAAP; and participate in quarterly and annual forecasting processes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Direct and validate all accounting activities including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and closing processes (monthly, quarterly and annually).
  • Perform analysis of financial statements and operating results, including generation of management reports and communication of results.
  • Manage assigned functions within the quarterly and annual forecasting processes.
  • Understand business processes and programs, validating proper accounting treatment and mitigating risk; recommend and implement changes to assure financial control, security, profitability and accountability.
  • Ensure internal controls and procedures are up to date and adhered to while acting as a liaison to auditors and other business units.
  • Oversee daily management functions for accounting personnel, including ongoing training and development.
  • Work with department to drive improvement utilizing RCI theories and processes.
  • Special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or equivalent with 8+ years of directly related experience
  • CPA required; public accounting experience preferred
  • A comprehensive understanding of accounting theory and practice, financial reporting, GAAP, internal controls, and forecasting
  • Aptitude to understand and improve upon business processes and to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of personnel throughout the company
  • Ability to manage a diverse team, handle numerous complex projects simultaneously and initiative to drive projects through to completion
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile data across multiple platforms to explain results, provide recommendations and understand business trends and fluctuations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; must have high degree of proficiency in Excel and experience with Hyperion, SSA Ln and/or Tableau (or similar applications)
