The ideal candidate will have technical experience identifying, developing & implementing technology for the purpose of product and business enhancement. This position will be a key member of a core Advanced Engineering team who will work closely with product design, manufacturing engineering, production, and equipment suppliers to deliver new equipment to the production floor.
This position can be worked in either Indianapolis, IN; Collierville, TN; or Monterrey, Mexico.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, planning, and execution of automated technology projects for heat exchanger & sheet metal fabrication, material handling, and assembly processes within a high-volume HVAC manufacturing environment.
Work with local plant engineering, manufacturing, and management to evaluate automation / robotic project needs and develop project scopes for implementation at several North American locations.
Design, planning, and execution of heat exchanger fabrication, material handling, and assembly process change required for NPI’s.
Integrate coil shop equipment into factory layout, process, and material flow, and optimize the sequence of operations for heat exchanger fabrication.
Provide technical support to the manufacturing operations as needed at several high-volume manufacturing facilities.
Ensure constant EH&S compliance
Lead implementation, and installation teams, including riggers, electricians, etc. to safe completion of projects on time and within budget
Ensure quality process implementation through the use of analytical process capability tools (DOEs and ProCert)
Evaluate process and equipment capabilities and capacities
Perform cost analysis to track and report on budget
Equipment bidding and contractor selection
EDUCATION:
BA/BS degree with 6-10 years of experience
MA degree with 4-7 years of experience
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or applicable equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of six years of engineering and/or management experience in a manufacturing setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate is an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer that has Manufacturing Engineering/Project Management experience in a large, high-volume manufacturing facility.
Demonstrated knowledge of RTPF coil assembly, mechanical coil expansion, hairpin bending, plate-fin fabrication, and brazing processes, controls, and equipment used in production environments for HVAC&R products. Demonstrated knowledge of MCHX coil assembly, fin stamping, and oven brazing processes, controls, and equipment used in high-volume heat exchanger production.
Demonstrated knowledge of equipment controls required, automation/robotics experience desired.
Familiarity with production systems and related machinery and processes common to HVAC&R products is desired.
Must have experience managing multiple projects and working on and/or leading multi-disciplined teams or workgroups
Must have project management experience including planning, budgeting, supplier negotiations, equipment layout, and implementation, and communication with internal customers
Must be able to work with minimal direct guidance or direction from others
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Strong computer skills required, including AutoCAD, MS Excel, and MS Project
Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with production employees, peers, and manufacturing management
