Summary
We are looking for an Aerospace Engineer Sr. Staff to join the Innovation Center in Huntsville to design early concepts and modifications for Unmanned Systems and Munitions. These development efforts require system-level thinking and collaboration across disciplines, technology areas, and product lines.
Position Responsibilities:
Project chief engineer, IPT lead, and/or technical oversight
Lead/support design reviews and other technical meetings
Support proposal/whitepaper activities
Mentor junior/mid-level engineers
Lead/support test activities
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
Bachelor of Science in any of the following fields: Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
12+ years of relevant experience
Relevant experience with aircraft, unmanned systems, and/or munitions from concept to flight.
Experience in:
Aircraft sizing
Aircraft performance
Aircraft mass properties
Structural considerations
Aircraft layout
Stability and control
Aerodynamics
Ground and flight test planning and execution
Proposal development
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies:
Master’s Degree is a plus
Must be a team player and collaborate effectively
Effective problem solving and analytical skills
Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties
Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meeting project/company objectives.
Focuses on teamwork and puts the success of the team above one’s own interests.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
Physical Demands:
Ability to work in an office environment (Constant)
Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and lab equipment (Frequent)
Travel: 10-25% travel is expected to support meetings and test events.

The salary range for this role is:
$147,430 - $221,146AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
