Position Summary

The Associate Category Manager manages the price-value relationship of assigned product categories to drive growth in volume and profitability within the foodservice channel. This position monitors changes in the marketplace in developing and implementing strategies to strengthen the company’s competitive position and create long-term brand strength and product differentiation. 

This is a hybrid role with 4 days/week onsite in Brunswick, GA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned product category profit and loss statement to achieve revenue, profit, and market share goals.
  • Establishes strategic marketing plans for assigned product categories and assists in the development of company-wide strategic plans and annual operating plan for categories.
  • Leads product optimization (rationalization or line extensions) and product-based cost reduction efforts.
  • Develops pricing strategy and assists Enterprise Management Team in development and review of Trade Spend tactics.
  • Drives new product development, launch, sales communication, and customer marketing strategies for assigned product categories.
  • Ensures consistent corporate and brand image across all product lines, materials and events; serves as champion of the brand.
  • Conducts market research to identify sales growth opportunities and to better understand current and future customer needs.
  • Develops and executes all communications, POS, promotional programs and new product launch materials for assigned product categories.
  • Collaborates across functions (R&D, Operations, QA and Enterprise Management) to gain support in accomplishing objectives and strengthen brad and quality reputation.
  • Works closely with Operations and Supply Chain to maintain plant schedules and inventory levels or production timing.
  • Manages the sale and disposition of all problem inventory.
  • Conducts sales and broker training on new and existing products; participates in sales meetings, customer visits, market visits and customer presentations as needed.
  • Serves as primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all sales issues regarding the assigned product categories.
  • Provides support to the Category Management group in analyzing and reporting volume and margin trends and preparation of product P&L’s.
  • Monitors and communicates changes in product demand when supply may be jeopardized. Informs sales team and customer service about product shortages as needed.

          Qualifications

          • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Marketing
          • 2-3 years related experience in finance or marketing preferred
          • Highly skilled with MS Excel software; proficient in PowerPoint, Word software.
          • Able to understand financial statements and balance sheets
          • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and customers.
          • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and act quickly to solve problems.
