Solutions Specialist Position Summary
The Automation Specialist will work with our Technical Solutions Team to support our Sales Team. Technical Solutions primary focus is to understand the product our customers use and help drive and support our preferred brand. They work with business units on all levels to assist in product sales training, commissioning, and high-level support. They also work with the tech services group to assist in the build of assemblies and panels.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with business units joining in office and field visits with customers
- Application assessment and future design for customer sites
- Provide high-level accountability/support on customer projects
- Direct team members to proper technical and solutions-based resources internally and externally
- Drive sales initiatives/high-impact incentive programs and assist in conversion opportunities to Automation-X preferred brands
- Provide in-depth understanding of the “why or why not” of specific customers/products and reasoning behind purchasing trends including vendor selection
- Respond to incoming requests for product/customer support through calls and TeamViewer sessions
- Work with Tech Services team on follow through of projects and customer delivery expectations
- Follow up calls with customers on satisfaction on solution suggested products
- Provide customer product support documentation consultation services in commissioning of AX Solutions
- Conduct trainings for end users/integrators
- Configuration assistance and “best practice” initiatives for preferred brands. (HMI-FC-RTU)
- Assistance in handling returns/repairs and replacement of damaged equipment (ie replaceable parts)
- Development of trainings and product “cheat sheets” for teams for assistance in quoting process
- Maintain relationship with vendors/manufacturers to provide information on new product release, firmware upgrades, product issues, and contacts for factory support
- Find opportunities to put on trainings for product/applications for conferences related to Oil and Gas market
- Provide internal trainings on application/product initiatives
- Creation of BOMs and drawings for Solutions projects
- Provide high-level accountability/support on customer projects
- Represent Automation-X in a professional manner, emphasizing excellent customer service
- Maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and customers
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma Required
- Technical Oil and Gas experience Required
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- NetSuite Experience, or experience with similar software
- Experience in Oil and Gas Automation and I&E
- Familiar with HMI-FC-RTU
- Exposure and understanding of Sales
- Knowledge in use of personal computer and PC Software (Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
- Superior written and verbal communication skills and inter-personal skills
- Professional and personable demeanor
- Superior organizational, decision-making and follow-up skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to adjust to flexible environment
- Ability to problem solve through technical and analytical analysis

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
The Automation Specialist role will be an in office position with travel required.
Travel Required
25% - 75% travel dependent on area of responsibility.
