The Building Products Specialist will focus on increasing sales within the NH/ME territory for building solutions. The specialist drives sales through strong relationships with specifiers and decisions makers. This creative, organized, and self-starting person will promote specialty products to builders, subcontractors, code officials and consultants in the commercial markets. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES (90% customer facing/virtual / 10% supplier facing/virtual):   

 

  • Develop marketing strategies that create downstream demand while expanding the customer base 
  • Identify, communicate, and manage growth opportunities (new dealer prospects, significant downstream prospects and new sales)
  • Provide educational seminars, including product presentations to a variety of customers and market influencers 
  • Instruct field installations training, customer certification training, and provide jobsite observation reviews 
  • Record field activities and initiatives using company CRM platform 
  • Create and utilize annual business plan/road map to provide territory growth, increase market share and identify opportunities with greatest potential of closed sale 
  • Identify competitive products and understand their strengths/weaknesses 
  • Complete all required reporting within required time frame 
  • Meet monthly and annual sales volume goals 
  • Participation and successful completion of company provided certification + sales process trainings 
  • Organize sales events and participate in trade shows 
  • Active participation in local trade organizations 
  • Be active in corporate initiatives as requested 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Passion for sales and a desire to “close to sale” 
  • Strong customer service skills both in person and virtually 
  • Self-motivated and functions well independently as well as within in a team
  • Ability to present to groups both large and small 
  • Ability to teach trade professionals proper installation techniques on job site  
  • Microsoft Office including hosting presentation 
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify and analyze key, market, customer, and competitive trends.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or industry experience equivalent 

 

Experience: 

  • 5+ years’ experience in customer facing sales 
  • Building products experience preferred 
  • Leadership experience 
  • Basic understanding of local building codes 
  • Understanding of building installation process 
  • Knowledge of construction supply chain and construction industry 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • In-market 85% of the time (customer facing)
  • Occasional over-night travel required.
  • Must react to short lead customer requests, Possible evenings, or weekend for customer events
