POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you ready to join a US Best Managed Company ? Kent Corporation has an opening for a Purchasing Agent/Buyer! The Purchasing Agent/Buyer will be responsible to evaluate suppliers and review product quality. He/she will work in a collaborate environment with the Purchasing team to develop, communicate and accomplish the Company’s goals and objectives. The successful candidate will report to the Direct - Purchasing Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for purchasing complex or technical materials, supplies or services
• Negotiate and settle with suppliers damage claims, rejections, issues, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering changes
• Evaluate and monitor contracts to ensure vendors and supplies comply with the terms and conditions of the contract and determine the need for changes
• Review planned purchase orders and work with plant operations to determine purchasing needs for planned production runs.
• Negotiate best vendor terms, pricing, and delivery based on budget and schedule requirements
• Provide superior business stakeholder experiences, while building long-term relations and demonstrating a passion toward stakeholder commitments

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Operations or Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics or related discipline; Master’s degree and/or certification in supply management or purchasing is preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• Prefer 2+ years purchasing experience
• Knowledge of industry practices
• Must be able to operate with a wide degree of creativity and latitude
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to speak with many levels of an organization
• Prefer experience in Food Ingredients, Retail Packaging and/or Industrial Packaging

TRAVEL:

• Some travel is required for relationship building and learning.
