In this position, you will lead certification activities by providing guidance to our engineering teams to ensure that our design solutions are compliant with the regulatory requirements of either the FAA and/or military airworthiness offices. These cover a very wide range from, advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft. You'll also oversee the aircraft certification process and development of certification documentation.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and typically 6 years of relevant experience
    • A higher level degree may substitute for experience
    • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
  • Prior experience working in multi-dBasic Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)isciplinary design and development teams
  • Approximately 5% travel required
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required


  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
  • Understanding of the certification planning process (i.e. developing certification plans, the establishment of certification basis, proposing Methods of Compliance, proposing compliance artifacts)
  • Prior experience with FAA Certification Standard 14 CFR Part 25, Transport Aircraft.
  • Familiarity with 14 CFR Part s 23, 27, 29 and/or Military certification (MIL-HDBK-516) programs
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Experience with reading, reviewing and interpreting technical documentation for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Coordinating certification approvals with the FAA Aircraft Certification Office, ODA's, Delegated Engineering Representatives (DER's)/Unit Members or other certifying authorities
  • Background in Project Management
  • Ability to effectively balance all requirements (Company, Customer and Compliance) through proactive actions rather than compromise
  • Current FAA Airworthiness Designee with function codes for Airworthiness
  • Approval of Parts, Assemblies, Installations, and Airworthiness Certification of Aircraft - or eligible to obtain those function codes.
  • Experience with quality control methods and techniques, with the proven ability to determine articles conform to approved design and are in a condition for safe operation
  • Proficient in the use of different types of drawings, specifications, measuring instruments, and inspection techniques

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants.
