Description
The Chemical Laboratory Technician is responsible for analytical testing, sample handling, interpretation and relaying results to appropriate personnel, laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, and repair. This is a 2nd shift position working Monday-Friday from 2:00pm - 11:00pm with some overtime as needed. Day shift hours will be required until training is complete.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performing and documenting laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support plant operations, quality assurance, and product / process improvement objectives
- Securing, inventorying, and evaluating plant samples;
- Carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies
- Maintaining, and operating standard laboratory equipment (i.e., titrators, pH meters, colorimeters, viscometers, gas chromatographs, etc.)
- Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked, properly equipped, and well organized
- Shipping customer samples
- Using computers and performing mathematical calculations for the interpretation and presentation of analytical results;
- Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks
- Providing assistance to other lab personnel as required
- Other responsibilities and training at the discretion of the senior lab team.

Requirements
Skills and Education Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma with at least 1 advanced science course, with accompanying relevant work history
- Computer Software knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, and database type systems
- Desire and willingness to learn new skills
Preferred
- 2-4 years of relevant experience, postsecondary training, or an associate degree in chemistry or equivalent
- Effective written and oral communications skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Flexibility to work in a small company atmosphere
