Job Description:
Position Overview
This position is responsible for gathering and analyzing external data on oilseed and grain commodities to create and share insights that help commodity merchants and company leaders make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Work with Head of Commodity Research in maintaining US and global supply and demand models for oilseeds, protein meals, vegetable oils, grains, and biofuels, and communicate expectations for key data points ahead of primary USDA reports
Provide weekly updates to team on weekly US export data, crop progress and conditions, etc.
Recommend and support commodity trading ideas based on fundamental research and price relationships
Share market insights on weekly conference calls with internal commodity merchant teams
Extract and organize large, and sometimes incomplete, data sets into useful and practical knowledge, utilizing data automation processes whenever possible
Make strategic recommendations on data collection, integration and retention based on data availability, business needs and knowledge of best practices
Cultivate relationships with relevant USDA staff and other commodity analysts in the industry

Minimum Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics, agribusiness, economics or related field required; master’s degree preferred
5-10 years of relevant experience in data analytics
3 years of experience in agricultural commodities
Knowledge of commodity trading or financial trading preferred
Experience with Python or R programming language preferred
