The Component Engineer will collaborate cross functionally while reporting into Engineering and will work with designers/engineers globally to support component evaluation, alternate source selection, identification of high-risk items, correct component duplication in our PLM, component consolidation opportunities, and other critical component engineering responsibilities.


  • Evaluating new part selections during research, concept development and new product development to identify supply chain issues and risks (EOL, Long Leadtime, RoHS/REACH, etc...).

  • Assist in identifying alternate/2nd source components for new product development (NPD) projects and R&D projects

  • Review BOMs/AVL and identify component/technology consolidation opportunities across global products (all verticals).

  • Create and maintain a list of high-risk single sourced components used in global designs.

  • Recommend components for early Engineering driven risk buys to support NPD.

  • Facilitating early communication with suppliers during NPD (introduction for Engineers/designers to directly interface with suppliers as needed).

  • Coordinate Part number creation in PLM system for NPD projects.


  • AS or BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Electrical Engineering background preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in Component Engineering and/or design engineering environment.

  • 2+ years of experience in design engineering and selecting components for new product development.

  • Ability to facilitate communication between Engineers and suppliers.

  • Strong analytical with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.

  • Understanding of Product Life Cycle Process and Product Development phase desired.

  • Skilled in using Arena (PLM), Confluence and JIRA applications.
