What You Will Do

CTCT is seeking a Component Product Manager to join the Dayton team. You will collaborate regularly with stakeholders and business partners in CTCT, Trimble, and Caterpillar to develop, articulate, advocate, implement, and sustain the product vision and roadmap.

The product line responsibilities for this opportunity may include sensors, electronic modules, alarms and/or operator controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the key contact and communicator for product issues, changes, and decisions

  • Apply your excellent communication skills and influence to achieve the required product outcomes

  • Manage the full product lifecycle, from initial concept to production to end of life

  • Proactively engage other areas of the business, such as engineering, quality, operations, and product support, to achieve product goals and resolve issues

  • Drive product decisions to completion

Specific Duties

  • Seek, identify and champion opportunities within the parent organizations to improve the financial position of CTCT, Caterpillar and Trimble

  • Collaborate with technology development and research teams within CTCT, Trimble, and Caterpillar to understand and incorporate emerging technology

  • Investigate and summarize the competitive landscape

  • Plan, promote and implement a Multi-Generation Product Plan (MGPP) and roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders and partners

  • Prepare the Market Requirements Document (MRD) with input from stakeholders and partners

  • Facilitate the Product Requirements Document (PRD) with engineering

  • Contribute to product testing, verification/validation requirements, and product acceptance criteria

  • Assist Project Management to drive product development and make cost, time and quality trade-offs

  • Provide new product forecasting for development, trade shows and initial stocking

  • Track product cost models including costs, gross margin and transfer price

  • Proactively manage product obsolescence, create obsolescence plans and end of life notifications

  • Assist the Quality team with quality issue identification, communication, prioritization, and resolution

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • Self-Motivated, curious, innovative, influential

  • Excellent written, verbal, visual and interpersonal communication skills

  • Goal-centric behavior that reflects in successful outcomes

  • BS in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years of experience working in product management, engineering or related role

  • Familiarity with grade control, construction business, construction machine operation and workflows, or automotive component development is highly desired

Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) is a joint venture between Caterpillar Inc. and Trimble Inc. This division develops positioning, control and automation products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GNSS, IMUs, optical total stations, lasers and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.
