Job Summary:

As a Component Engineer, your primarily responsible for component strategic planning due to technology migration, qualification of quality alternatives, monitoring and execution of validation progress, and collaborating across engineering and purchasing cogitation to meet company goals. You will evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools, and procedures to Inspect and validate the quality of the product. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design teams to determine Supermicro's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Supermicro’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless customer experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Identify sourcing risk exposures and provide recommendations for supply continuity
• Support impact analysis, strategic planning and monitoring of action plan on technology migration
• Provide root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for engineering related concerns
• Initiate and support high-quality initiatives through design/spec and/or process improvements
• Maintain a comprehensive database that will show the status of all component tasks, both past and present
• Meet with and confer with customers, vendors to discuss existing and potential engineering projects
• Evaluate operational systems, prototypes, and recommend repair or design modifications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on part selection, risk assessment, design reviews, and proactively drive risk mitigation
• Conduct supplier evaluations for strategic sourcing opportunities


• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or material related field preferred

• Engineering experience in the industrial electronics or a related field preferred

• Demonstrated strong knowledge of key electronic components

• Understanding and working knowledge of engineering document control practices

• Understanding supply-line management

• Ability to collaborate across engineering and business disciplines to meet quality goals

• Ability to design and layout circuits, panel drawings, and test fixtures

• Strong leadership, and organizational skills

• Strong written and oral communication skills
