The Composite Material & Process Engineer will apply composite material engineering principles to enable manufacturing (and/or research and development) of composite parts and assemblies, including fiber reinforced organic matrix materials and fabrication processes such as traditional hand lay-up, Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), infusion, and Resin Transfer Molding (RTM). Typical Material and Process (M&P) tasks include:

- Interface internally and with suppliers on technical issues with composite raw materials, new materials and processes, manufacturing plans, and parts fabrication

- Develop and implement composite research and qualification plans, including process development and material characterization

- Author and maintain composite material and process specifications

- Advise on appropriate selection of materials and processes for parts and products

- Participate in structural lay-outs and design reviews

- Participate in non-conformance disposition and corrective action processes

- Generate and present technical presentations

Basic Qualifications
Engineering or other technical (STEM) bachelor's, master's or PhD degree.

Experience working with composite materials, processes, fabrication/manufacturing methods, bonding/joining methods, testing, and/or inspection processes.
Desired skills
Degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Composites, Polymers, or Chemistry highly preferred.

Experience with composite bonding and joining techniques, especially e.g., adhesive bonding, pi structures.

Experience interpreting engineering drawings.

Experience with material characterization techniques.

Experience creating and revising material and process specifications, reports, and test plans.

Experience overseeing material suppliers and subcontractors.

Experience transitioning composite process research to production environments.

Project management skills.

Experience preparing and deliver technical presentations to internal and external customers.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work remotely
Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Pay Rate:
In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $83,800 - $139,600 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.
