Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Composites and Impact Dynamics Director responsible for providing strategic direction and technical leadership for the disciplines’ contributions to the proposal, design, development, validation, certification, production and aftermarket support for applicable modules, subsystems and hardware for P&W commercial and military engine programs. The Director is a member of the organization’s senior leadership team and, as such, participates with executive leadership in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals and vision, while championing the organization’s core values. The Director is responsible for providing leadership in the company's cultural transformation and organizational must-dos.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervisory responsibility for discipline managers and their teams as well as oversight responsibility for discipline chiefs, fellows, and subject matter experts.
  • Technical engagement.
  • Provide leadership to ensure planning and staffing meets customer requirements and enables delivery commitments for all phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Develop innovative approaches to talent recruitment and retention, along with talent development for the Structures discipline.
  • Oversee and support employee development and succession planning within the discipline to promote discipline health and ensure talent is being prepared for the next generation of key leadership opportunities.
  • Participate in global initiatives that cross organizational boundaries, especially with regards to interactions with peers from other organizations in promoting overall engineering and discipline health.
  • Represent the organization as required when executive leadership is unavailable; this includes supporting discussions with senior leadership in both Pratt & Whitney and across RTX, as well as with external customers, suppliers and partners.
  • Accountable for employees at multiple sites and ensures communications are flowed down appropriately at each location.
  • Support organizational and/or site-level teams and be involved in special projects across P&W, and potentially RTX.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years experience
  • Prior management experience leading multi-disciplinary product development teams, with customer facing and senior leadership communication.
  • US Citizenship required due to Government contracts.
  • Travel up to 10%.
  • Work schedule: Hybrid.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in multiple organizations and roles across engineering.
  • Demonstrated technical, strategic, business innovation and team leadership.
  • Alignment with P&W’s culture progression. Demonstrated ability as an empathetic leader.
  • Broad knowledge of Composites discipline design and manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Highly motivated, able to work across organizational boundaries and have demonstrated exceptional customer focus.
  • Familiarity with engineering development processes, required.
