General Summary:

We are seeking a Compound Management Technician for a 6 month contract in the Discovery Core Department. The Archive Management Lab is highly automated, and this role will require routine operation and troubleshooting of laboratory robotics, while interfacing with web-based software tools. This position will primarily be responsible for set-up, execution, and QC evaluation of manual and automated compound printing. The Temporary Compound Management Technician will also be responsible for other tasks as needed, including accurate sample weighing and dissolution for fulfillment of dry and solution-based compound sample requests. Additionally, this role will coordinate the shipment of orders with the logistics department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in set-up, execution, and QC evaluation of automated compound printing
  • Executes tasks independently following established methodology and procedures with minimal supervision
  • Performs initial analysis of data and interprets immediate experimental outcomes and/or conclusions within established protocols
  • “Troubleshoots” routine technical problems and performs routine equipment maintenance
  • May be expected to present at internal Group research meeting
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Ability and willingness to work a schedule that includes weekend shifts

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrates critical thinking and the ability to learn and apply troubleshooting techniques for automation
  • Exhibits reliable ability to independently interpret routine, uncomplicated data
  • Selects solutions from established procedures and methods to optimize some commonplace procedures
  • Flexible and responsive to changing priorities with the ability to effectively meet deadlines while working under pressure
  • Has a high aptitude for common computer programs, in addition to being comfortable in learning new software and hardware systems

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or biological sciences.
  • Typically requires 0-4 years of experience in life sciences, engineering, academia or the equivalent combination of education and experience
