SRI International's Computer Science Lab (CSL) builds, assesses and defends vital computer systems that affect all of our lives. We study the logical foundations of scalable systems beyond the scope of traditional testing or simulation, and we create and apply high-level tools for rigorous mechanical analysis

Responsibilities

CSL is looking to hire a Computer Scientist to conduct research and development in applications of deep learning for autonomous cyber defense. The successful candidate will actively participate in existing and new projects for government and commercial clients. The duties will also include co-developing research ideas, leading the experimental evaluation of these ideas, and documentation in technical reports and research papers. Some travel will be required to project sites and conference venues.

 

Ideally the candidate would be local to the Menlo Park, CA office and able to go on-site as needed, but we are open to a remote worker or working from another SRI location.

Qualifications
  • PhD or MS in Computer Science
  • Experience with applied research in the following areas:
    • Software-defined networks
    • Programmable data planes (P4)
    • Deep-/reinforcement-learning frameworks such as Open AI Gym, PyTorch and Tensorflow
    • Advanced prototyping
    • Software development skills to experimentally evaluate algorithms
  • Candidates will be encouraged to publish in top-tier security (IEEE S&P, Usenix Security, CCS), networking (SIGCOMM, NSDI, CoNext), and ML (NeurIPS, KDD) conferences.
