Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Talent Acquisition and Boeing Digital Solutions is currently looking for a Portfolio Architect to join their team in Seattle, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Training Solutions Program business portfolio.

A successful candidate will lead architecture activities, building and maintaining architecture solutions, and keeping our views and models up to date, while ensuring we are meeting the portfolio goals for delivery of software and data for our customers.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work independently with a strong customer focus applying both outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a global workforce consisting of a variety of technical skills and capabilities necessary to deliver on commitments.

  • Excellent time management, project management and scheduling acumen necessary to work effectively across a global workforce located in multiple time zones.

  • In depth experience leading technical teams to innovate, design and create strategic architecture solutions working throughout the entire software development lifecycle in an Agile approach (Scaled Agile Framework experience highly desired) to build and deliver products with first time quality.

  • Possesses demonstrated hands-on architecture experience at the application, solution and portfolio levels for the creation of customer-facing cloud-based products (commercial aviation domain experience preferred) including strong analytical skills, knowledge of architecture and application of software engineering best practices.

  • Leads activities to define architecture requirements and designs to enable business needs.

  • Leads activities to verify robust architecture, data and information management systems and components are included in the architecture designs.

  • Leads the identification of design constraints and ensures architecture conforms to functional and non-function requirements to meet business needs.

  • Incorporates architecture functions into software development lifecycle including architectural enablers, architecture roadmaps, maintains and prioritizes technical debt backlog.

  • Leads the development and configuration management of architecture views and models.

  • Assesses the feasibility of architecture solutions and alternatives and makes recommendations to enable business objectives.

  • Performs architecture and technical trade-off analyses and evaluates products to assess suitability for integration into solution designs.

  • Drafts data and information management products and service standards.

  • Assesses impact of architectural decisions to product lifecycle.

  • Leads the creation of strategic technical roadmaps and integrated plans on behalf of the portfolio.

  • Leads development of architecture and data/information management standards and strategies.

  • Coaches and mentors others.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 8+ years of cloud architecture experience (e.g., cloud native development, HA/DR configuration, cloud security configuration, microservice patterns, serverless, virtualization and container orchestration, cloud Dev/Ops and automation, IaaS, PaaS)

  • 8+ years software engineering experience

  • 5+ years leading and mentoring Architects and Software Engineers in a leadership role

Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).

Summary pay range: 140,200 – 197,800
