Job Summary

The successful candidate will have 7 or more years’ experience working with the mechanical and electrical installation of material handling solutions. This candidate needs a good understanding of how the overall solution is managed from the initial schedule, planning, mobilization, rentals, supervision, and materials required to perform the installation.
This position is based in Grand Rapids, MI (however, the right candidate may be able to work 90% remotely)

Tasks and Qualifications:

This Is What You Will Do In This Role

  • Represent Installation in all phases of early project planning with particular focus on cost, technical detail, and schedule.
  • Identify and communicate risk associated with NUD’s (New, Unique, or Difficult) as they pertain to Installation execution.
  • Partner with Installation teams to identify causes of overruns and opportunities to mitigate future reoccurrences (conduct project post-mortems and track overrun causes).
  • Maintain a database with all details on upcoming projects and prepare notes for discussion at ROC (Regional Operating Committee) and GOC (Global Operating Committee) meetings.
  • Keep Installation Program Managers informed on all upcoming project cost reviews. Attend all early technical and pricing reviews.
  • Run quick cross reference checks to determine if pricing is within +-5% of Installation target and raise concerns to address out of scope cost.
  • Evaluate level of technical difficulty associated with each project, and identify if additional funding, time, or risk should be allocated.
  • Keep Installation Business Units (Amazon, Portfolio A, and Portfolio B) fully appraised of upcoming projects and any concerns regarding the budget, timeline, location, or technical difficulty.
  • Work closely with Solutions Development, Engineering, and Program Management to drive accuracy and continuous improvement into the estimating process.
  • Track and ensure team staff attend all technical and pricing reviews and maintain and share details of finding and agreements

What We Are Looking For

  • Typically an associate's degree and 7 years' experience.
  • Excellent communication & language skills.
  • Capacity to analyze as executed data and recommend changes to future estimates.
  • Good knowledge of EXCEL, and Maestro (preferred, not required)
  • Solid technical background in logistics systems, related to Mechanical and Electrical Installation.
  • Team Player with strong commitment.
  • Generally, 7+ years of successfully managing construction projects, the installation of material handling equipment, or estimating large/ complex civil engineering projects.
  • Key Working Relationships: Primarily internal with the teams/ departments responsible for preparing project cost.
