Full time: a position averaging 35+ hours per week. The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.64/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

The Construction Worker II maintains existing structures on the Estate including but not limited to Biltmore House, restaurants, residence, barns, storage areas, offices, work areas, etc. making necessary repairs as needed or when requested. This position is also responsible for any new construction or alternations, while ensuring conformance to OSHA safety regulations and applicable state and local building codes. This position must complete all projects by deadline and within estimated cost while maintaining a daily logbook with detailed work performed for each project.

This position will work primarily 1st shift from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.


1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.
2. At least three (3) years of general experience that convincingly demonstrate general knowledge of all phases of construction with an emphasis on carpentry. Proficiency with plumbing, electrical, commercial painting and HVAC strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The ideal candidate will have had experience in the same or similar role and will have had hands on experience with each of the trade disciplines involved in the construction industry.
3. Advanced knowledge of carpentry, tools, and materials and their functions. Should also be familiar with common construction and systems issues and be able to troubleshoot as needed.
4. Demonstrated commitment to providing world class internal and external guest service.
5. Must be able to take initiative, be proactive, and exercise good judgment as appropriate. Should be comfortable anticipating, addressing, and troubleshooting issues.
6. Strong planning, organizational, and time and project management skills with a keen attention to detail and a focus on quality
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively, concisely, and clearly.
8. Ability to operate a range of hand tools, equipment, and machinery.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
2. Ability to stand/walk, stoop, bend, kneel, reach overhead and below throughout the duration of a shift.
3. Ability to climb ladder/scaffolding up to 8 feet.
4. Manual dexterity to safely operate hand tools, equipment, and machinery.
5. Visual acuity and the ability to respond to a variety of stimuli appropriately.
6. Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years old. 

Essential Job Duties:

1. Perform any necessary repairs scheduled by manager.
2. Build, repair, and remodel structures as needed in full compliance with all applicable local and state codes and ordinances.
3. Expedite materials for best quality and price.
4. Complete paperwork thoroughly and with detail for each project.
5. Meet project deadlines and budget and keep manager informed of project status.
6. Assist manager with project bids when needed.
7. Load and unload any necessary tools and material for the job and help keep truck in order.
8. Pick up and deliver necessary materials from supply houses as needed.
9. Clean up work areas after each shift or when job is complete.
10. Keep shop, trucks, and storage areas neat and clean.
11. Assemble all paperwork in proper folders for coding.
12. Complete tasks and assignment in accordance with departmental and company safety regulations.
13. Maintain tools, equipment, and shop areas.
14. Stay abreast of new technologies.
