Job Summary: 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join the Club Car product development team.  We are looking for a talented energetic engineer that has a passion for vehicles to help us continue to elevate the golf car to a vehicle that people look forward to sharing with their families and showing off to their friends. 

 

The Lead Engineer at Club Car leads the design, development, and product launch of mechanical components and sub-assemblies to support New Product Development, Value Engineering, and Innovation programs for Club Car.  This job will require experience and knowledge in mechanical part design, material selection, processing, tooling design, and failure analysis. This engineer will work with cross-functional teams to deliver mechanical components and assemblies to support vehicles and accessories for the Consumer market. 

 
Responsibilities:  

  • Lead the development of vehicle related components and modules from concept to production  

  • Drives technical rigor for all projects assigned (product specifications, DFMEA, DVP, APQP, and Technical Design Reviews). 

  • Leads efforts to improve the financial impact of engineering activities on the business. 

  • Builds departmental capabilities through the development of less experienced engineers. 

  • Participates in the development and execution of roadmaps for Consumer vehicles. 

  • Drives overall project risk assessment (budget, schedule, scope) and mitigation plans.  

  • Creates and reviews subsystem and component level specifications. 

  • Leads cross-functional team to align on product/subsystem requirements, DFMEAs, and DVPs. 

  • Creates and owns the Engineering Release Plan for all components, assemblies, installations, and Bills of Materials for assigned programs. 

  • Leads suppliers and other external resources to develop technologies and/or products to meet specifications. 

  • Collaborates with manufacturing engineers to ensure Design for Manufacture (DFM) and to incorporate designs into Club Car manufacturing processes. 

  • Leads competitive benchmarking activities & value engineering ideation activities 


Qualifications: 

  • MS or BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical field of study with minimum 10+ years of experience  

  • Demonstrated expertise in product & assembly design for different manufacturing processes  

  • Demonstrated use and experience with CAD software; PTC Creo preferred  

  • Detailed understanding of mechanical engineering principles.  

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills including 8D Problem Solving Process. 

  • Experience working in a vehicle related business preferred.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills including 8D Problem Solving Process. 

  • Pro/Engineer Creo 

  • DFMEA, DFM, DVP, and APQP 

  • Experienced in applying and understanding the results of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD), and other complex simulation/analysis results. 

  • Process knowledge for plastics: injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, blow molding, thermoforming, and other common processes used for the manufacturing of products made from polymeric materials. 

  • Process knowledge for metals: extrusion, stamping, die cast, welding, and other common manufacturing processes. 

  • Strong project management skills and aptitude 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in MS Project & Excel
