Position Summary:

Analytic role within the Circulation Department working with cross functional teams to improve digital business performance. Produce standardized routine digital reports, as well as ADHOC reports and analysis as needed. Develop new reports to expand digital reporting capabilities and assist in budget planning & presentations. Works under the general direction of the Consumer Insights Sr Director covering all Regions for Media News Group & Tribune. Works closely with company management teams to provide financial analysis, forecasting support with heavy emphasis standardization, new technology as well as operational strategic planning initiatives. The Digital Circulation Analyst will assist circulation department in expanding reporting tools in Tableau with creating data extracts and designing dashboards. Expanding knowledge of new technology and integrating new features into data processes which includes learning google analytics.

Major Functions:

1) Manage and maintain assigned routine circulation reporting functions

2) Analyzes, monitors, and reports on key circulation initiatives using various data sources.

3) Review reports/data for accuracy and provide feedback

4) Meet with key stakeholders to develop and design new digital reports

5) Work with Naviga database, extract data to automate reports and develop new data source to integrate into current business practices when possible.

6) Provide back-up assistance to Consumer Insight analyst colleges

7) Assist management to ensure tasks/projects are on schedule

8) Budget planning and forecast planning as needed.

9) Assist with board presentations as needed.

10) Track Digital expense and work with Digital VP to assist in managing digital expense budget

11)Transition manual reports to automated Tableau dashboards where possible

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college experience required.

Experience:

A minimum of 2-3 years related experience; media experience with similar background preferred.

Skills:

Above average analytical skills, oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and attention to detail. Efficiently work independently and manage weekly task lists to ensure deadlines and expectations are met, as well as an ability to work in a team and collaborative environment. Works well under deadline pressure. Ability to adapt and change course quickly a must. Excellent problem solving abilities and analytical skills are critical measures of success. Strong computer skills, including an expert level ability with Microsoft Excel as well as an ability to navigate and utilize other Microsoft Office and reporting packages. Experience with data extraction tools preferred and forecast modeling. Tableau, SAS, SQL and familiar with Google Analytics

Decision Making:

Decisions are made daily on short notice affecting circulation averages, revenue, expenses, product pricing, resources and volume projections. Exercising good judgment and independent thinking is essential. Majority of time is spent working independently and will require self-discipline and effective communication. Due to the nature of this position, a successful completion of a background screen including a consumer report/investigative consumer report is required.

Contacts:

Regular contact with upper management and staff of main office. Frequent external contact with vendors, division leaders, other departments. Diplomacy and tact is required.

Management Planning:

Extensive and focused planning when working with managers to produce circulation and supply expectations based upon trend and market analysis. Special projects require the cooperation of many other departments.

Staff Responsibility:

Must supply accurate, detailed information to different levels.

Funds/Property:

This position has access to revenue and expense information within the circulation division. Discretion and confidentiality required at all times

Scope:

This position is relied upon to provide accurate, reliable and timely information to managers, division directors and MNG Finance. Business decisions may be based on information provided. Confidentiality is required.

Working Conditions:

Primarily remote activity.

The annual salary is 100,000.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance.
