POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for partnering with Management to ensure all financial/accounting functions are fulfilled timely and accurately, as well as providing financial planning and analysis to drive strategic plans, annual operating plans, and other business initiatives. Primary duties include cost accounting, financial reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc reporting. Additional duties include providing leadership and functioning as a trusted resource to operational and manufacturing administrative personnel, managing, mentoring and training Accounting staff, managing annual audit, maintaining and updating internal controls, and other special projects as assigned by the VP Finance & Treasurer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: may include any or all of the following.
- Responsible for preparing all finance/accounting materials to be presented to Executive Management, external auditors, and Board meetings.
- Develop and deliver monthly and quarterly financial operating packages.
- Deliver input to update financial forecasts each quarter.
- Analyze, interpret and develop financial models to support alternative business outcomes to complex business issues and offer recommendations to Management.
- Participate in corporate development of key finance/accounting processes and evaluation criteria associated with projects, programs, and people.
- Provide controllership, business partnering, and reporting to the business group on product/service profitability.
- Ensure that all finance/accounting reporting systems and procedures are in compliance with established Company policies and procedures while analyzing cost-effective enhancements and efficiencies.
- Implement policy and strategy for short-term results (1 year or less).
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state taxes, and current accounting standards.
- Support VP Finance & Treasurer in various projects and initiatives.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (COMPETENCY STATEMENTS):
- Highly skilled in analyzing financial data, preparing financial reports, statements and projections, problem solving, decision-making, planning/organizing, meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and communication.
- Advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- In-depth, working knowledge of financial and accounting ERP software applications.
- Proven knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
- Successful employee relations oversight and proven hands-on lead by example, highly motivated and passionate work/leadership style, with team building experience; able to motivate and empower others.
- Ability to influence others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline with 10+ years of accounting experience and three or more years in a lead/supervisory role as a Controller or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Energy industry or manufacturing experience using a standard costing system, with annual revenues of $50MM, preferred.
Computer skills:
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications.

- Highly skilled in the use of various types of accounting ERP software and database systems: SAP, Oracle, QAD or similar.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly or indirectly supervises 2+ accounting personnel and other project related personnel on an ad-hoc basis in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Scope may include supervision of direct reports as well as indirect supervision of their direct reports.
