Cost Accountant

Essential Functions:
- Perform detailed cost analysis as needed for Cost Accounting Manager and/or VP of Operations or in any other capacity
- Maintain standard costs including periodic labor rate reviews as well as overhead
- Analyze absorption and report on manufacturing variances
- Perform Accountant Reconciliations
- Prepare and Distribute Inventory Reporting by location
- Attend related product line meetings.
- Review all variances including PPV, material usage and standard cost variances and make appropriate recommendations or voice specific concerns.
- Assist with forecasting and budget preparation by significantly contributing data and information that is site specific. Review and analyze this data and provide commentary to Cost Accounting Manager as well as VP of Operations.
- Strong presence and coordination for the annual physical inventory for assigned sites and product lines.
- Ensure cycle count process is being followed by coordinating with each site leader to review results regularly and discuss any items for concern.
- Educate new employees when needed of cycle count process and requirements.
- Develop and maintain critical relationships with designated site leaders as well as other key personnel and decision makers
- Review all variances including PPV, material usage and standard cost variances and make appropriate recommendations or voice specific concerns.
- Promote education and training to site leaders as well as other appropriate personnel for various accounting principles and processes.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain process and procedure documents.
- Cross training with other cost accounting personnel.
- Various other Analysis and Inventory Reports.
- Other duties as needed.
Education and experience qualifications:
- BS in Accounting
- 2-3 years Cost Accounting experience
- Knowledge of accounting software systems is preferrable. Teamwork and problem solving skills.
- Experience with ERP systems preferred, Oracle experience a plus.
- Deadline-driven, well-organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Power BI experience preferred.
