JOB SUMMARY The Data Integration Engineer role will provide customer support, product and integration support for Doble’s portfolio of web products to include ARMS, PowerBase and InsideView.  This person will be the first point of contact for customers and will support them in activities to include data mapping, data clean-up, network infrastructure development, data & network security requirement, PI data mapping, and DEC mapping requirements.  This position reports to the Senior Director-Solutions and Project Management.

 

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provide Scope of work for Doble ARMS, DUC, PowerBase, InsideView or Prime projects partnering the customer
  • Be available to engineering for backup support for IT support. Be the solutions stakeholder and liaison to engineering for datacenter infrastructure changes and needs given a customer perspective.
  • Work with various Stakeholders for overall integration of Doble or third-party equipment
  • Provide direction and strategies for data integration from the substation for varying security perimeters— substations, SCADA, Corporate LANS and DMZs.
  • Provide integration strategies for moving substation data in a Hosted (Cloud Computing) or Enterprise solution
  • Managing substation integration with internal or external resources (e.g., hired companies, partners, etc.) across a large number of assets.
  •  Insure NERC CIP & FERC compliance of all integrated data sources
  • Provide input into future product development and business growth
  • Provide data mapping architecture, data clean up requirements, third party data historian mapping.
  • Provide configuration recommendation for various communications architecture
  • Provide System Integration & Protocol Management
  • Data security profiles
  • Network security profiles
  • Determine Substation configuration workflow for various Gateway products, and coordinate with Doble data Administrator
  • Meet project delivery schedules
  • Provide System Engineering, field work, on site troubleshooting and commissioning when needed
  • Become well versed in the ARMS, PowerBase and InsideView products.
  • Develop Business Partnerships and Collaborate with Gateway companies (Subnet & Rugged Solutions).
  • Hands-on participation in the activity of data cleanup, data integrity analysis, data governance policy development and data migration activities to support customers.
  • 25% travel is expected of the position

 

DECISION-MAKING LATITUDE

  • Will be responsible for recommending and comparing options for substation integration for a variety of Doble and non-Doble products.

  • Will be responsible for presenting and comparing numerous technologies – such as gateways, networks, communications, and security.

  • Will be responsible for customer integration strategies and coordinating with Doble ARMS Solution Director and Engineering.  

 QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong understanding of protocol conversion and data concentration techniques

  • Strong background in data and network architecture

  • Strong background in the various communication technologies, such as wireless, satellite, microwave, Ethernet; Internet (cloud computing), modems, cellular modems, etc.

  • General knowledge of and experience working with the OSIsoft PI System

  • Familiarity with database systems optimized for sampled waveforms, time-series measurements, event detection

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):

  • General knowledge of and experience working with the OSIsoft PI System

  • Understanding of database architecture design and interfacing

  • 2-4 Years

  • Ability to collaborate and cooperate with colleagues, managers and customers.

  • Willingness to develop a detailed understanding of electrical power generation, transmission and distribution systems

  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications

  • Ability to independently plan and organize one’s own activities
