POSITION SUMMARY
This position oversees all aspects of the organization's quality and business improvement efforts, such as developing and administrating the Quality Management System, Third party certifications for Quality/Safety/Environmental, training and coaching employees, and facilitating change throughout the organization. Responsible for establishing strategic plans, policies, and procedures at all levels so quality improvement efforts will meet or exceed internal and external customers' needs and expectations.
Directly oversees the Quality Department salaried and union quality inspectors, Welding Engineering and Accuracy Control groups while ensuring support of company goals and objectives. Facilitates resolution on quality acceptance or rejections if disputes arise between contract requirements and product. Obtains regulatory approval of Weld Procedures, Nondestructive tests, Calibration Procedures and product testing methods. Directly communicates with Customers and Regulatory Bodies. Member of Senior Leadership Team and reports to Executive Management any deficiencies and proposes corrective actions. Attends formal Program Reviews and provides input on quality metrics as determined by product test results. Aides all departments in root cause determinations and corrective actions. Has responsibility for development and delivery of training programs to all FBS workers to ensure compliance to NAVSEA, ABS, USCG and customer contract requirements.
Key objectives tied to this role include increasing customer satisfaction, reducing non-conformance, customer impacting issues and rework along with decreasing traveler work while ensuring first time quality acceptance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Works across the organization to develop and promote a culture of Quality and oversee the development and delivery of communication, training, and programs that communicate culture, values, and guidance for all employees in performing Quality work.
- Oversee day-to-day management of the Quality, Welding Engineering and Accuracy Control department and collaborate with Leadership to align goals, remove barriers, and provide clear and consistent communications on customer requirements.
- Ensure ISO certification and compliance for Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS).
- Ensure Safety and Environmental certifications for Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS).
- Participate in strategic and business planning and in setting business goals and objectives.
- Oversees development of Training techniques that provide consistency while utilizing technology and cutting edge approaches to optimize performance and compliance.
- Provide strong internal collaboration:
- Develop and maintain ongoing collaborative relationship with the Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Program Management, and other departments to ensure quality product as each stage
- Ensures hulls are built in accordance with contract and regulatory standards and maintains documentation of compliance. Obtains customer and regulatory approvals as required during construction.
- Maintains a commitment to and promotes the company vision statement and the Quality Policy of the organization.

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
