ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  2. Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  3. Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  4. Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics. Monitors and ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, Local, and internal safety standards.
  5. Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  6. Ensures that safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  7. Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  8. Identify, monitor and improve the efficiency, waste reduction, output and safety of manufacturing processes through production data collection and process analysis. 
  9. Create, edit, and maintain necessary documentation. 
  10. Utilize lean manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts to reduce rework and variation throughout the company’s processes. (Greenbelt Training) 
  11. Work closely with other plant functions for process/quality control of raw material improvements. 
  12. Assume responsibility for safety and environmental issues and ongoing performance of processes improvements. (EHS and Suggestion) 
  13. Oversees incident investigation process and maintain accident prevention initiatives in the plant.   
  14. Manages employee medical care and worker’s compensation claims.
  15. Identifies root cause and implements corrective actions, follows up to ensure corrective actions are followed long-term.
  16. Manages and updates environmental permitting (Air, Water, Waste, Tier II), submits all required reports (quarterly and annually).
  17. Routinely performs industrial hygiene air and noise monitoring.
  18. Utilizes EHS consultants as necessary.
  19. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  2. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  5. Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  6. Knowledge of training techniques. 
  7. Ability to problem solve. Technical troubleshooter. 
  8. Cooperative and proactive with a positive attitude that supports the organization’s goals and values. 
  9. Strong relationship building skills. 
  10. Detail orientated. 
  11. Resourceful. 
  12. Good math skills. 
  13. Ability to adapt quickly to change. 
  14. High level of proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Work, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and basic computer programs. 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master’s degree desirable.
  2. Five years of related experience preferred.
  3. Certified in CPR, First Aid, AED.
  4. ASP or CSP highly preferred.
