Printpack is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the role of EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) manager located at our Grand Prairie Converting Plant.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (Science, Engineering or related Environmental, Safety and Health Field preferred), and/or equivalent job-related experience
Five (5) years of relevant experience in safety and environmental
Relevant professional certifications (CSP, CHMM, QEP, CSHO, or equivalents) - strongly preferred; or an additional 2+ years of relevant work experience;
OSHA, EPA and DOT Regulatory knowledge
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred Requirements:
Working knowledge of engineering, operations, environmental and safety standards
Master's degree in a related field a plus
Working knowledge of EHS management systems (ISO and VPP)
Experience with OSHA VPP Star certification process
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to plant management and associates to achieve safety and environmental goals through commitment and engagement
In consultation with the appropriate corporate offices, interpret all current and applicable laws, company policy and good manufacturing practices to ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work place
Provide awareness and in depth training as necessary on safe work practices and environmental requirements.
Lead risk assessment exercises to anticipate hazards and prioritize solutions
Develop tools for assessing, measuring, and reporting effectiveness of safety and environmental initiatives
Investigate safety and environmental incidents to ensure proper plant response, identify the root cause, and in consultation with the appropriate corporate offices establish methods to prevent recurrence of similar situations
Provide leadership and training to production and response teams, evaluate their effectiveness, and plan improvements
Generate reports as necessary to identify trends, educate the work force, and supply corporate leaders and government agencies with information they require
Work closely with all plant and divisional teams
Identify and develop good working relationships with state and local authorities (i.e., state/local environmental and safety agencies, wastewater authorities, fire departments, etc)
Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and identify all requirements that apply, or may apply, to the facility
Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis. This includes recommendation of EHS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to ensure compliance with rules and regulations
Hire and manage contractors and consultants where required to complete EHS activities in a timely manner and within budget
Conduct audits and inspections of plant activities, and train others on conducting such audits and inspections. Inform the plant manager of conditions, which could lead to potential violations of laws and regulations or company policies and procedures
