Summary
The Sr. Electrical Engineer for the Continuous Improvement team will be responsible for supporting the internal and external manufacturing processes for sustaining and new products. The CI EE will reduce waste in electrical assemblies using Lean Six Sigma and other methodologies to improve the quality, manufacturing, and functionality of our products. The CI EE will be working with multiple departments to understand the design, manufacturing process and failure modes to come up with intelligent and cost-effective solutions to difficult problems.
Position Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is to provide Electrical Engineering support to internal and external manufacturing facilities to resolve any related issues on sustaining and new products
- Focus will be on electrical assemblies, PCBAs, calibration, and testing
- Create or update work instructions and other documentation to control the processes
- Create and manage equipment specifications and documentation for development, qualification and support of assembly, calibration, and test equipment
- Identify, formulate and implement opportunities with lean manufacturing principles throughout the process to reduce cost, reduce variation, reduce cycle time, improve yields, improve reliability, improve productivity, etc.
- Perform Design for Manufacturing, Test, Cost, Reliability, etc. analysis on new products with the design engineering team
- Create Calibration & Test Strategies for new and current products
- Project management of multiple project tasks for self and others
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering Familiarity with electro-mechanical manufacturing, drawings, procedures and Bill of Materials is desired
- 10+ years of experience in Electrical, Test, Manufacturing, Electro-Mechanical Engineering or similar field in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial industries
- Specific experience with printed circuit board assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, calibration and testing processes is desired
- Organization/planning, communication (oral and written), time management, conflict management, ability to manage stress, deadlines and work independently
- Software Knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access, Project), MiniTab, Oracle, Agile, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Visio, C# / OOP using Visual Studio IDE, Visual Basic, LabView / Teststand, MatLab, is desired.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
- Experience working new product introduction (NPI) is a definite plus
- Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing implementation or use of tools is desired
- Experience in Test and Calibration equipment software and hardware is a definite plus
- Security clearance is a definite plus
Physical Demands
- Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.
- Ability to work in an office and R&D environment (Constant)
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
The salary range for this role is:
$121,600 - $182,400AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
