 Reports To: Production Floor Supervisor

 Grade: 9

 

SUMMARY 

Testing and failure troubleshooting of a variety of single and 3 phase generators. This requires an understanding of AC & DC circuitry in a high voltage environment. Detailed documentation of equipment used for testing along with test results including failure and rework performed is required. The Technician will provide technical & programming support on selected products manufactured & distributed by the company. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Reads & understands schematic diagrams, technical drawings, datasheets, & written work instructions 
  • Installs components, following specifications 
  • Uses Ohm meter, oscilloscope, and general hand, & power tools 
  • Maintains all work related equipment 
  • Maintains all related documentation for task/test performed 
  • Follows a daily/weekly production schedule 
  • Reports product problems to supervisor 
  • Follows defined quality system documentation as required by ISO 
  • Maintains a clean & safe working environment 
  • Works with a team 
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Associates degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Basic understanding of circuitry and electrical schematics. Capable of building and soldering printed circuit boards. Test/troubleshoot PCB failures 
  • Evaluate and repair PCB Assemblies down to the component level
  • Ability to use electrical theory to debug and repair functional test failures 
  • Ability to use test equipment to measure and record various voltage and amperage parameters throughout a test protocol.
  • Must be able to use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and other equipment to diagnose issues
  • Must be able to perform surface mount rework
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; adept at managing conflict to resolution 
  • Have solid computer & typing skills & be able to use MS Windows  
  • Must have surface mount & thru-hole component knowledge. - Experience w/ Analog & Digital troubleshooting 
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics diagrams and engineering drawings

May require walking primarily on a level surface periodically throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The performance of this position may occasional require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.  For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional manufacturing equipment as found in a manufacturing environment.
