Primary Objective:

PCB® manufactures piezoelectric sensors used to test and measure vibration, pressure, force, acoustics, load, and shock in research and development as well as industrial and military applications.  

 

The primary objective of the Purchasing Team is to ensure timely delivery of high quality and cost-effective products from a competitive supply base while adhering to global trade and compliance requirements. This position will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop and implement strategic commodity plans for highly engineered, electro-mechanical components.

 

This position will be responsible for strategic sourcing of goods and services for the company and the end-to-end process from source to contract for Electronic or Mechanical parts, which may include one or more of the following areas:

Cables and cable assemblies

Electronic Components

Printed Circuit Board Assemblies

Machined Components and Raw Metals

 

This position leads the development and execution of strategic procurement plans by clearly understanding the spend and supplier/stakeholder landscape while leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge and cross functional collaboration.     This position will be responsible to develop, manage, measure and continuously improve the procurement operations of the assigned commodity(ies) by sourcing products from the lowest total cost, highest value-add, and best in service supplier base, while mitigating supply risk and optimizing PCB inventory investment.  

 

This position shall demonstrate proactive and cross functional communication, proven analytical skills, project management, continuous improvement experience, contract negotiation, and extensive business system (ERP) knowledge.

 

Major Areas of Accountability

  1. Commodity Management 
    1. Develop and lead commodity supplier roadmap to mitigate inflationary risk and avoid supply chain disruptions by establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), driving optimal Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), and managing continuous improvement and savings projects.
    2. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ascertain forecasted requirements, develop, maintain or drive to the PFEP for items within the commodity and structure supplier agreements that enable lean manufacturing objectives.
    3. Utilize analytical skills to develop cost targets that demonstrate knowledge of commodity drivers, manufacturing technologies and volume efficiencies which form the basis of cost negotiations and supplier selection criteria.
    4. Works closely with Engineering to align long term commodity sourcing strategies and influence technical design decisions to meet technical requirements, cost, and business objectives, and supports ongoing continuous improvement, New Product Introduction (NPI), and dual sourcing initiatives.
    5. Perform strategic sourcing activities in support of customer requests or internal projects including drafting and sending out SOW, RFI, RFP, or RFQs, reviewing responses, supplier selection, documentation and flow down management, and coordination with appropriate internal stakeholders. 

 

  1. Supplier management:
    1. Evaluate, recommend, and develop suppliers, act as the commodity owner of commercial relationship with strategic suppliers and manager ongoing supplier relationships, including the negotiation and administration of supplier contracts.
    2. Responsible to organize and lead remote and onsite meetings with suppliers focused on strategic initiatives, contract review at the supplier, performance issues (cost, delivery and quality) and routine program or business reviews.
    3. Manage product transitions between suppliers and new outsourcing projects.
    4. Lead negotiations of annual buys, vendor managed inventory (VMI) agreements, and Long Term Agreements (LTA) with all levels of supplier management and internal stakeholders, to develop and deploy appropriate strategies, contracts, and business relationships that satisfy PCB’s current and future business needs.  

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

Bachelors degree 

 

Experience

5 years experience in sourcing or commodity purchasing

Travel Requirements

10 – 15% to suppliers


Preferred Qualifications

 

Education

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or Other Engineering.

ISM / APICS Certified, Supply Chain Management Certification

 

 

Experience

10 years experience in sourcing or commodity purchasing           

High mix, low volume technical manufacturing sourcing

Comprehensive mastery of ERP systems

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically expert level Excel
