What you will be doing

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) who will also serve as an Agile Coach to support our fast-paced organization. As the RTE, you will be a servant leader responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Agile release train. Your primary focus will be to facilitate the successful planning, execution, and delivery of our products and services, while also fostering agile mindset and practices within the organization.

Primary Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Release Train Management:

  • Coordinate the Agile release train (ART) consisting of multiple teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration across all teams (IT, Product and other business teams) towards efficient and effective value delivery

  • Drive the alignment, planning and delivery of our products and services within the train

  • Provide Agile leadership and guidance to the Agile teams, scrum masters and other team members

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, self-organization, and empowerment

Facilitation and Coordination:

  • Help the ART prepare for Program Increment (PI) Planning

  • Facilitate PI planning events, and other key ceremonies to ensure efficient and effective collaboration among teams

  • Coordinate dependencies and manage risks to ensure successful value delivery

  • Discern when to escalate risks and changes to the leadership team

Coaching the ART:

  • Serve as an Agile coach, guiding the ART in the adoption and implementation of Agile principles and practices

  • Coach Scrum Masters in ART team events and practices

  • Help teams identify and overcome challenges and promote a culture of continuous improvement

Metrics and Reporting:

  • Establish and maintain metrics and reporting mechanisms to provide visibility into the progress, quality, and health of the ART.

  • Regularly communicate key metrics and insights to stakeholders and leadership

  • Continuous improvement:

  • Drive relentless improvement initiatives within the ART, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing strategies to optimize processes, productivity, and overall agile team performance

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate closely with product managers, scrum masters, the lead team, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of priorities, requirements, and delivery timelines

  • Foster strong relationships and effective communication channels

SAFe Adoption:

  • Promote and facilitate the adoption of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles, values, and practices within the organization.

  • Train and mentor team members and stakeholders on SAFe concepts and methodologies.

What your background should look like
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Software Engineering, Business Administration or related field OR equivalent experience

  • 5+ years agile team facilitation experience

  • 10+ years total project management experience

  • Experience on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.)

  • Knowledge of development environments, platforms, and technologies

  • Well versed in a variety of agile approaches (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean at a minimum)

  • Experience providing program, portfolio, and team level process, mentoring and coaching to senior leadership, portfolio managers and teams

  • Experience with ad-hoc coaching and mentoring techniques

  • Strong knowledge and experience of the SAFe framework and its core principles

  • Proven track record of serving as an Agile coach, guiding teams in adopting and implementing Agile principles

  • Excellent facilitation and coordination skills, the ability to manage multiple teams and stakeholders effectively

  • Strong problem-solving and decision -making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Agile certifications such as SAFe RTE, SAFe Agilist, or similar certification are required

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and evolving priorities

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
