Overview
Department 475 is responsible for managing the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) Network (NNPP Net) at Electric Boat. EB LAN portion of the NNPP Net consists of over 950 computers and 1600 users at four sites in two states. The network is expanding to support many changes including new construction, maintenance and modernization contracts, and to meet changing security requirements.
D475 seeks a highly motivated individual to join its IT team. This role requires in depth knowledge and experience with all aspects of imaging and application deployment to end user devices managed by the organization (i.e. desktops, laptops, and tablets). This includes configuration, customization, implementation, testing, patching, changes, and operational support of the operating system and all deployed desktop applications. The candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert for end user device hardware and software and provide higher level support to users when escalated by Management System Coordinator. The individual will be expected to perform root cause assessments and remediation as it relates to the desktop team for problem resolutions.
Some of the responsibilities of this position will include but, are not limited to:
- Manage and administer System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
- Develop and maintain device images
- Package and deploy software to end user devices
- Administer application control by using Trellix (McAfee) to whitelist applications
- Provide thorough documentation on all current and newly implemented technologies
- Research complex technical problems and identify, implement and communicate technical fixes
- Attending training sessions to maintain and improve skillset as well as cross-train peers
- Prepare and lead training for staff within the department.
- Lead desktop engineer related projects involving multiple teams
- Support special desktop projects which will require occasional weekend on-call support
This position requires implementing government standard configurations to desktop equipment. It provides team members with challenging work and a means to continue gaining technical skills and broadening their experience throughout their career. The position requires physical access to desktop devices throughout the Groton shipyard and the New London, Kings Highway and Quonset Point, RI campuses some walking and travel is required. In addition, the position requires occasional on-call and evenings.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance
At least one of the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field with 2+ year related IT experience
- Associate's Degree with 4+ years related IT experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 6+ years related IT experience
Demonstrate 2 years using SCCM or similar to do:
- Windows 10 Build and Capture Task Sequence
- Administer task sequences to install software updates
Preferred:
- Experience working Application Control whitelisting applications using Trellix/McAfee (preferred) or similar
- Relevant certifications (Network +, Security +, ect.)
- Demonstrated work with DoD STIG requirements
- Active Confidential security clearance or higher
Previous experience administering DoD, military, or Federal Government system
