Facility Services Technician

GSK is currently looking for a Facility Services Technician in Rockville, MD to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for mechanical maintenance, service calls, and in-house repairs throughout the facility. They perform work in mechanical maintenance trades and perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. They also make periodic or special inspections of equipment to ensure operability and to determine necessary repairs. They may work from rough sketches and drawings. They must also understand and abide by applicable cGMP requirements.
- Must work effectively with outside contractors.
- Assists with the development and improvement of department procedures, documents, and operating and maintenance procedures.
- Works and participates effectively in a team environment; within the department, with other departments and with outside contractors.
- Requires supervision of outside contractors performing facility and equipment related services.
- Requires technician level operation of the MERP data base.
- Assist facility technicians with preventative maintenance and work order activities.
- Must perform custodial and site inspection tasks, including grounds, roofs, ceiling tiles, lighting, elevators and fire suppression equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
The Facility Services Technician will be responsible for providing input to the Manager Facility Services when discussing departmental decisions concerning maintenance and repair of the building infrastructure. The typical work hours for this position are a standard workday and 40-hour work week, with shift work being a possibility depending on manufacturing demand. There is also an on-call rotation consisting of 24/7 support for alarm monitoring and emergency services. Some travel may be required.
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- HS Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of facility maintenance experience
- Must be able to lift 40lbs
- Must be able to operate heavy machinery (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Minimum 1 year cGMP experience
- 3+ years’ experience with a biopharmaceutical company.
- Production experience is a plus
