Job Description
This position leads operational function at a warehouse processing center or distribution center. Manages group of salaried and hourly employees on assigned shift. Demonstrates creativity, initiative, and integrity to ensure quality and timeliness of shipments to customers with minimal guidance from superintendent or plant manager.
Models GM’s cultural behaviors and demonstrates the highest level of integrity at all times
Cultivates a safety culture, and implements and enforces workplace safety rules and policies
Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union representatives, and management team
Monitors safety and good housekeeping standards
Participates and provides input during selection of new employees
Monitors daily productivity and quality requirements to achieve customer expectations Communicates effectively with employees, leaders, business partners, and customers
Evaluates team performance, and promotes continuous improvement
Achieves quality standards by communicating goals and leveraging resources to solve problems
Understands and consistently administers collective bargaining agreements and company policies
Ability to deal with ambiguity while maintaining effectiveness in a dynamic environment
Additional Job Description
Strong interest in Continuous Development and Training
2-3 years managerial experience within warehousing/manufacturing or equivalent
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Leadership skills to inspire and to promote personal development in others
One Team attitude to drive results
The ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining effectiveness in a dynamic, often chaotic environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills that involves understanding the audience; getting the message across; presenting information effectively; and communicating openly
Excellent time management skills – the ability to effectively and efficiently use your time to focus on the most impactful activities and challenge those that distract from the identified goal
Ability to build strong relationships
Computer skills to develop, maintain, and analyze data
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Exhibit positive attitude and high level of enthusiasm towards business
Be a strategic thinker
Be curious
Exhibit managerial courage
Must be willing to work 1st or 2nd as dictated by business
Must be willing to work overtime (including weekends as needed)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
GMS knowledge and execution experience
Problem-resolution/Labor Relations experience
