This position is for an hourly Generation Dispatcher to manage assets PJM power markets. This position is for an hourly Generation Dispatcher to manage assets PJM power markets. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, attentive to details, responsive to deadlines, and able to make precise high quality decisions. This position reports to the Director, Asset Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Will be a member of the Asset Management and Trading group and will be responsible for the hourly optimization of generation assets
- Coordinate dealings with real-time generation in and out of ISO markets
- Serve as the first point of contact between plant operations, asset management, traders, and ISO's
- Ensure that power generation assets are economically dispatched into the Real Time and Day Ahead Markets
- Maximize profits in the hourly energy market
- Analyze and react to market conditions
- Monitor scheduling spreadsheets
- Monitor gas usage and communicate changes to gas traders
- Carry out the NERC reporting responsibilities related to Vistra's fleet
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with counterparties and ISO's
- Work 12 hour shifts which include working nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24 hour coverage of trading desk
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of energy (or related industry) experience preferred
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or Logistics preferred
- PJM & NERC Certified preferred
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong systems aptitude with proficiency in Excel
- Able to work 12 hour shifts which includes working nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure 24 hour coverage of trading desk
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative to think creatively
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience, understanding and responding to power market fundamentals
- Experience creating and interpreting business case scenarios
- Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills and participate in solution implementation
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a high energy, high stress, fast paced environment.
- Detail oriented and able to effectively work under deadlines
- PJM Certified preferred
