At a Glance:

The Payroll Analyst is a member of the finance team that will ensure accurate processing and recording of company payrolls, provide timely and accurate financial information, participate in reviewing exception reports and coordinate with other departments as needed for problem resolution. The analysis will include federal, state and local payroll tax analysis as well as benefit deductions. The Analyst will also perform other payroll related duties as assigned.

This position is remote based out of Tulsa, OK and will require some in office duties periodically.

What you will do:

  • Ensures payroll is processed timely and accurately.

  • Prepares and files tax and regulatory reports.

  • Assists in auditing payroll administration. Helps with implementation of audit recommendations.

  • Prepares payroll reports.

  • Analyzes payroll reports to ensure discrepancies are not present.

  • Aides in preparation of end of year W2s and any other employee tax reporting duties.

  • Supports Payroll manager in ensuring all payroll calculations for deductions are accurately assessed.

  • Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.

  • Reviews and analyzes exception reports generated as part of the payroll processing.

  • Reviews all tax and unemployment liability accounts to the general ledger and investigates variances.

  • Prepares quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting and researches and resolves payroll/tax reporting issues.

  • Analyze federal, state and local payroll tax as well as benefit deductions to ensure accuracy

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission.

  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.

  • Process manual checks as needed.

  • Load import files from HR.

  • Suggests changes to payroll processes and procedures.

  • Participates in assigned payroll and/or accounting special projects.

  • Supports the payroll accounting team as needed, including overseeing payroll tax registration and reconciliations, periodic reporting, and other tasks.

  • Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of international, federal, and state laws and regulations regarding payroll.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong research and trend analysis skills.

  • Excellent PC-based software application skills: Excel, Word, etc.

  • Ability to organize and plan multiple activities which require close attention to detail.

  • Able to adhere to tight deadlines.

  • Process-driven and excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong work ethic and collaborative team player.

  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Experience in Workday application preferred

  • Experience with Oracle application preferred

What you need:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or combination of education and work experience required

  • 5+ years of prior payroll experience

  • CPP or CPA certification preferred but not required

  • Workday experience preferred

  • Experience in a multi-state and multi-national payroll environment preferred

  • Experience with expatriate payroll preferred
