Global Policy & Strategy Manager

Description -

Responsible for developing global positions on priority public policy issues, working in close alignment with internal stakeholders. Analyzes geopolitical dynamics and anticipates global policy trends to support our core business and growth segments.​ Influences the public policy landscape and provides expertise to support business strategy and to drive ambitious and meaningful progress.

Responsibilities:

  • Influences existing strategy on a range of public policy issues to identify risks and opportunities presented for HP.
  • Monitors relevant legislation and regulation across geographies, consults with regional GA&PP teams and subject matter experts, and develops actionable content for teams across HP.
  • Provides analysis and strategic partnership to advise Business Units and Global Functions on policy trends, contributing to shape the internal strategy and decision-making.
  • Leverages external networks, including government officials and trade associations, to develop HP policy thought leadership, create allies, and execute advocacy strategies.
  • Advances HP values and supports the company’s 2030 Sustainable Impact Goals through policy actions.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience developing and implementing government relations strategies for companies, political organizations; or relevant government service.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and distributed business environment providing advice and counsel to senior management, and presenting to senior level boards and committees.
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills and a proven track record of producing high-quality content and materials.
  • Experience in executive communications.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities including the capacity to collaborate with regional government affairs functions, and manage several different workstreams at one time.
  • Intellectual curiosity, flexibility to learn and manage new issues.
  • Fluency in English, other languages an asset.
  • Some travel may be required.

  • Decisions affect company’s ability successfully advocate on issues.
  • Impacts efficiencies and delivery times across all stakeholder teams, takes responsibility for the quality of deliveries.
  • Proactively and effectively interacts and partners across different departments within and outside the GA&PP function.


Complexity:

  • Moderate to high: Senior management interface; frequent cross-functional/cross-organizational interaction on execution of tactics


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence. Typically 6-8 years of experience.
