What does an HR Coordinator do?

As an HR Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in providing administrative support to the human resources department. Your primary responsibilities will include creating and mailing employment-related letters such as terminations and intent to return to work, compiling confidential professional correspondence, coordinating and assisting with daily scheduling and tracking of projects, events, and trainings, coordinating departmental tasks, completing error-free data entry and review in HRIS software and other documents, and coordinating HR projects such as meetings, conferences, and travel arrangements.

In addition, you will be responsible for making telephone calls, inquiries, and gathering information for tracking resources, collaborating with other organizations, and employment status, processing documentation and preparing reports related to personnel activities, tracking required training, coordinating certificates of insurance, overseeing and managing the vehicle management program, including processing accidents, claims, losses, and tracking them. You will also be responsible for reporting and tracking of general liability insurance claims/losses, reviewing and processing court orders, coordinating and tracking performance evaluations, and assisting with the implementation of new HRIS modules.

As an HR Coordinator, you will also serve as a back-up to the administration assistant and undertake delegated tasks and projects as directed by the HR department. You may also be assigned additional duties as needed. Overall, the HR Coordinator plays an integral role in supporting the human resources department and ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of HR operations.

What education, qualifications and/or requirements do I need for this position?

  • Associates Degree in Business or related degree, preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of (2) two years of human resources experience
  • Knowledge of HRIS software and other related tools and technologies
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Are there any physical or environmental demands for this position?

 

The position requires the incumbent to meet certain physical demands to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. These demands include sitting, standing, and/or walking throughout the day while being able to perform detailed work for long periods of time. The incumbent must also regularly analyze, provide, and respond to compliance matters, while occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. The work environment of this job includes primarily working in an office setting, with occasional visits to other locations and facilities for auditing purposes. While traveling between locations, the incumbent may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise is typical of a busy office environment.
