The Industrial Maintenance 1+2 program held at the DMACC Perry VanKirk Center is a full-time position that allows students to get paid while learning a trade. Students in the program will attend classes in the morning and work in the maintenance department in the afternoon to include weekends. Students in the program complete a short Industrial maintenance training program and the student commits to working full-time in the maintenance department at the Perry Tyson facility for a minimum period of two (2) continuous years after completing the program. Prior to participation in this program, students must review and sign a contract that details various program requirements. Failure to adhere to the terms of the contract and other program requirements will result in immediate dismissal from the program and the requirement that students reimburse Tyson for all program-related expenses.

Team members are responsible for keeping machinery running to maintain continuous production. This includes repairing and maintaining the operating conditions of the machinery and Industrial equipment used in the pork processing industry, troubleshooting problems that occur in the day- to-day operation of the facility. The position requires performing work involving hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, conveyor maintenance, 3-phase wiring, AC/DC control wiring, welding and pneumatic systems. The Team Member will also set up, adjust and break down production line machinery, and complete daily documentation that is required. The position will also require welding repair and fabrication using various metal and welding techniques on food process and related equipment. Skill development in all phases of industrial maintenance areas is preferred.

Must be able to work with little or no supervision. Must be willing and able to stand up to 10-12 hours a day on hard floors. Must be willing and able to work in all environments of our processing facility such as Harvesting, Cut/Converting, Rendering, Yards, Wastewater, and Load-out areas. Must be willing to work in wet, humid, hot, and cold environments. Temperatures can range 35 to greater than 90 degrees. Must be willing to climb ladders and work off various heights and surfaces of up to 25 feet. There may be minimal to heavy force of various push/pulls involved with maintenance jobs. Must be willing to occasionally lift equipment of up to 100 pounds with assistance. Must be willing to work weekends. This Team Member needs to be able to follow all safety rules, which include but not limited to following Tyson core safety mandates and wear personal protective equipment correctly.

· High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent is required

· Team members in program must maintain 2.0 or better grade average

· Good attendance is a must. Must have 6 attendance points or less at the time of job posting. Must keep attendance at 6 attendance points or less during the duration of the program.

· Must have good safety awareness. Must not have a safety discipline within the past year

· If candidate does not fulfill the obligations of the contract, candidate will be dropped from the program and be required to pay repay the cost of the program

· Weekend work required
