Lab Specialist Lvl 1 – iLAB Glass

SUMMARY

The Level I Specialist for the PGTI iLab Glass is responsible for fabricating and assembling product within the iLab Glass and is skilled in the operation of hand assist glazers, manual dies, saws, and other manual equipment associated with manufacturing of high end, custom glass products, including material handling and packaging. This individual will also be responsible for operation of equipment with safety as a priority, and routinely recommend changes to improve safety procedures. Reports directly to the iLab Glass Group Leader.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

Actions

Fabrication / Assembly

·       Build products from design drawings

·       Operate routers, saws, and dies

Quality Inspections

·       Ensure products conform to design intent and meets defined quality standards

Equipment Upkeep

·       Ensure equipment is clean and safe.

·       Follows preset operator care procedures.

Safety

·       Maintains a safe working environment

·       Participates in safety walk downs

Production

·       Will serve as a resource to the Assembly Plant if the need arises.

·       Will establish best practices, and assist in training when the time comes to move the product to another facility for full time production.

Material Handling

·       Has experience with driving a Forklift, and can pass PGT Forklift certification.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Hands-on mechanical skills required - working knowledge of tools such as, chop saw, table saw, drill press, etc. required
  • Ability to handle multiple products/assemblies on the same line
  • Drawing interpretation
  • Experience driving a Fork Lift preferred
  • Experience in the fenestration preferred

Ability to travel occasionally domestically, including CGI and WinDoor facilities.
