General Purpose:

Provides direction, guidance and training to laboratory technicians. Provides lab data to management team as needed

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Supervises Laboratory technicians
• Provides training for new and existing lab techs as needed
• Performs calibration of lab equipment as needed
• Maintains necessary lab certifications under applicable state and federal programs
• Acquires all required licenses and certifications necessary for the position
• Provides timely, accurate and precise lab data to plant management
• Orders supplies for lab
• Assist Lab techs as needed to complete workload
• Review records such as yeast/mold, coliform, environmental and charm ATP swabs, to determine effectiveness of SSOP’s
• Review HACCP records for cheese and whey plants weekly and report results
• Function as back-up to the QA Supervisor in assisting the QA Manager with the development of quality programs in the plant and working with external auditors, both regulatory and internal.
• Minimize water usage and the generation of wastewater within the scope of position
• Follow and make sure department follows all DFA GMP’s and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory quality and sanitation requirements
• Follow and make sure department follows all safety and environmental regulations
• Perform related duties as needed
