If you are an experienced software testing professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Shakopee, Minnesota location, you will design and implement software to verify and validate world-class pressure and temperature measurement devices used in safety-critical industrial applications.

We create products that deliver highly accurate pressure and temperature measurements with unmatched reliability to help customers in a variety of industries.  Our product offering includes static and differential pressure measurements, as well as intrusive and surface temperature measurements.  Our embedded software/firmware development and test team ensures that customers can rely on our products to improve plant operations and protect the safety of their workers. This role has the flexibility of a hybrid remote / on-site work option. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers. 

 

AS a Lead Software Test Engineer, YOU WILL: 

  • Lead two to five engineers by providing work direction, coaching and technical expertise
  • Plan test effort and develop test strategies for test automation (90%) and manual testing (10%)
  • Oversee and direct the test development process including designs, reviews, implementations, and test execution 
  • Present status updates and test metrics to management
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from requirements definition through post-release activities
  • Carry out continuous improvement to the software test processes
  • Collaborate with firmware development team
  • Peer review test designs and code (C# .NET environment)
  • Shift into a direct contributor role when required
    • Design, implement and execute automated firmware tests
    • Analyze and document test results
    • Design, create, and maintain test automation infrastructure code, including software for controlling lab equipment

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor of Science in applicable Engineering field or Computer Science
  • 6+ years of applicable experience
  • Proven experience providing work direction and leadership to others
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States 

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead as well as participate as a member of a team
