General Purpose:

Prepare, season, and cook a wide range of foods, which may include soups, salads, entrees, and desserts.  


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow recipes, controls, portion, and presentation specifications set by The Creamery
  • Ensure the freshness of food and ingredients
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Bake, grill, or fry meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • Boil and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • Arrange, garnish, and sometimes serve food
  • Clean work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes
  • Cook, handle, and store food or ingredients
  • Follow all safety and sanitation procedures when handling food and working with kitchen equipment

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Training related to culinary field and/or 1+ years of related work experience
  • Certification and/or License – Culinary and food safety certifications preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Passion for food and culinary skills
  • Able to understand orders and follow recipes to prepare dishes correctly
  • Knowledge of food, quality, production, sanitation, presentation, and food cost control
  • Customer service skills, including the ability handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for the repair and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Attention to detail and able to multi-task
  • Problem solving skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
